Destiny-Kaspar

Just saw the live action version of The Jungle Book. It was a pretty good movie. I'm not a big fan of turning the classic Disney cartoons into live action, but that one surpassed my expectations. 
Last week I also saw Captain America Civil War, I wore my Captain America hoodie and T-shirt. Somehow the ticket cashier knew what I was going to see before I told her, she must have been psychic.

This year has been packed full of movies I am excited to go see. 

Here's a list of one's I've seen and am going to:

Deadpool- seen
Zootopia- seen
The Jungle Book- seen
Captain America Civil War- seen
Warcraft
Suicide Squad
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Moana
And various horror movies

There were other movies that were on the list, until I saw their trailers. One being Assassin's Creed, I'm not even sure what the hell is going on with that, the Animus is so weird. Another being Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, based on a book series I absolutely love, I could tell by the trailer that they fucked it up. What the hell was the stupid reason they gave Emma air powers, and Olive's floating peculiarity. Her fire powers were a cool part of her, and what made her, well her. Miss Peregrine is not at all how I imagined her to be. Also I hate the fact they were focusing on the romance between Jacob and Emma. In the book the two of them are a great couple, but I hate when romance is shoved in my face too much, and MPFPC is by no means a romance series. I rolled my eyes when I heard some Chosen One bullshit in the trailer. Jacob was not a Chosen One to protect the other children, he just happens to have a peculiarity to see Hollows. When I heard it was being made into a movie I was so excited, but the trailer dashed my hopes and dreams. I really should learn not to get excited about book to movie adaptions, they usually get so butchered they are so unrecognizable. 

I imagine someone reading the back of a book, flipping through it, slamming it on the table, and declaring, "Let's make this into a movie!"
Someone else, "But sir, you didn't read the book."
"It doesn't matter, it'll make it us the big bucks, and give us nourishment from the tears of disappointed book enthusiasts everywhere!" Then they proceed burst out with a maniacal villain laugh. 

Now it seems that shitty adaptions are usually ones based on books targeted at a young adult audience. It also comes down to the fact I have a hard time judging something by its own merits, if you base it on something else I'm going to judge it heavily. 
There are a few book to movie adaptions I don't mind. I love the Harry Potter movies, sure they don't follow the books to the letter, but they keep the spirit of their original material source. 
I actually loved The Hobbit movies over the book, because I felt they had more substance to them. The length didn't matter, the longer I could stay in Middle Earth, the happier I was. 
In fact I could go on about this topic, but I realize I have strayed from the main subject of what movies am I watching or watched this year. Perhaps I'll make a YouTube video about Book to Movie adaptions, or just adaptions in general. 

I was looking at the date of my last journal, and was baffled at how long it has been since I posted a new one. 

For some time, I've been dealing with personal stuff, so managing journals hadn't crossed my mind. 

I've gotten a lot of art inspiration as of late, so hopefully I can post more frequently. 

One thing about deviantart was that I was annoyed by the fact they changed premium memberships. Call it a late reaction, but I will never understand what made them think premium had to be called core all of a sudden. Memberships were so much more affordable. Until I can get more of an income, I'm sticking to being a regular member for now, despite how much I miss my benefits of being a premium, I mean core member.
